The Revelation Given to John by Jesus Through the Angel
Lesson Seven – part two
A few in the church at Sardis have not defiled the righteousness that covers them. Their old natures are dead and the lives are hid, with Mashiach, in God. They walk with Mashiach and are worthy because of the new hearts created in them by the Almighty power of the Spirit of God the instant they turned from self. They recognized their state of ineffectual corruption and turned to Yeshua Ha Mashiach in recognition of his total effective victory when he bore the curse of their sins and won God’s favor for them. Mashiach became sin for us[i]. He became a partaker of our nature[ii]so that we, his own beloved who have been made clean in the blood of the Lamb, may partake of his divine nature[iii] and be worthy to walk with Mashiach. The word “he” includes both genders, so the one who overcomes is the one who is born of God. For the one who is born of God, faith is the victory that overcomes the world. That faith is the gift of God[iv]and there is not one single thing we can do to earn it or conjure it up ourselves. It becomes affective in the recipient’s life when it is used.
Faith is like taffy. It grows as it is worked. The Christian who exercises the gift of faith in the whole armor of God is fully aware that their life is of the Spirit of God. The Christian knows that our enemies are spiritual and; therefore, our weapons must be spiritual as well. Those weapons will be aimed at the fiery darts of the devil, but we also know that battle was won for us at the cross by Mashiach.
We are fighting skirmishes with an enemy that doesn’t seem to know the war was already won. We fight a good fight because the the unmerited love and grace of God has
- Called us to salvation
- Given us a new heart
- Given us faith so that we may apply it and repent
- Declared us just (righteous)
- Adopted us, which admits us all into the rights and privileges of the children of God
- Sanctified us, or set us apart for re-creation into the image of Mashiach, and
- Glorified us, which ensures of a perfect resurrection body and soul for eternity.
Because we have been given all of these great and glorious gifts from God, we embrace them, and Mashiach will confess our names before God and the holy angels.
Prayer: Yeshua Ha Mashiach, you are the righteous and only Potentate. Help us to focus our spiritual eyes on you. We know that you are Spirit and must be worshiped in spirit and in truth, so we lay aside the deeds that we attempted to please you with in the flesh. And now we say, with David, have mercy on me, wash me, cleanse me, and purge me of self. And I will rejoice in the God of my salvation because you have given me a clean heart and a right spirit. You are my hiding place. I put my trust in you, Yeshua Ha Mashiach.
