Revelation Lesson Twenty-one

The Revelation Given to John by Jesus Through the Angel

Lesson Twenty-one

Revelation 11:15-19

The third doom is come right on the heels of the second doom, which we studied in Lessons 19, and 20, but before the third doom Yeshua, through his angel to John, gives us more assurance and encouragement.

At the sound of the last trumpet a crescendo of voices start a beautiful anthem. It is the song of the Redeemed; the answer to “Thy Kingdom come, … . Listen: the kingdom is now the kingdom of our Lord and his Messiah! He will reign forever and ever!”

And the twenty-four elders – the represented Church – worship Yahweh in song on their knees.

“We thank you, O God, sovereign-Strong,

Who is and who was

You took your great power

And took over – reigned!

The angry nations now

Get a taste of your anger.

The time has come to judge the dead,

To reward your servants, all prophets and saints,

Reward small and great who fear your name,

And destroy the destroyers of the earth!”[i]

Remember, when the last trump sounds, the dead in Mashiach shall rise incorruptible and, at the same time, we who are still residing on this earth will be changed in the same way[ii] at the time of our Master, Yeshua’s second coming[iii], and we will all meet him in the air[iv]. Yes, the seventh angel has blown his trumpet and the Mystery of Yahweh, all the plans he has revealed to his servants and prophets are being completed.

Yahweh told the prophet Isaiah to tell the afflicted city of Jerusalem he was about to rebuild her with precious stones where all the children would have Yahweh for their teacher; a solid building, grounded in righteousness and safe from terror. “No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper” is what everyone can expect.[v] He told Ezekiel his holy name would never again be dragged through the mud and the nations would realize he is The One and Only Holy God in Israel[vi] – remember we are Israel whether a natural branch or grafted in. He told Daniel the history of the world powers and how it would all end with the people of Yahweh’s eternal rule.[vii] To Joel Yahweh he gave an account of how the land he created would be restored to him and how good it would be for his family.[viii]Yeshua told us he would come to the earth, blazing in beauty, and take his place on his eternal throne and judge the people.[ix] Yeshua also told us there is plenty of room for us in his kingdom and we will be with him through eternity.[x] The angel told us Yeshua would come again, as mysteriously and abruptly as he left.[xi] And Paul reminds us the trails we endure now are nothing compared to the wonderful future we have in store for us through eternity.[xii]

Yahweh’s temple in heaven is like his right arm, or his wings – it is an earthly demonstration of the spiritual truth. This is the true holy place where Yeshua went. It is a building not made with hands[xiii] Yeshua Ha Mashiach is the cornerstone[xiv].

Doors are symbols of access to something, just as Yeshua is the door to Yahweh – to salvation, theses doors, in Revelation 11:15-19, open the way to the heavenly building of Yahweh. The Ark of the Covenant was an earthly representation of the law of Yahweh met by the mercy seat of Yahweh. The temporal symbol is replaced with the transcendent eternal[xv]Exodus 25:10-22 is the blueprint of the Ark of the Covenant. Every aspect of the diagram has spiritual significance, but I want to point out the picture the contents and cover paint for us.

The manna was encased in gold, which symbolizes purity. The manna itself is a token of Yahweh’s faithful provision. The rod of Arron that budded represents Yahweh’s power and the Testimony of Mosses represents Yahweh’s justice and perfect character. The testimony did not include any of the laws the lawyers added later. The song od mosses was a witness both of Yahweh’s justice and mercy and grace.[xvi]

The cover was made of ‘24 KT’ gold, and was called the Atonement – Cover because it represented Yahweh’s mercy. It is the mercy seat spoken of in the letter to the Hebrews, where Yahweh sits and waits for us [xvii]to come to him in boldness. It reminds us that the law is fulfilled because of the mercy and grace of Yahweh and doesn’t depend on our feeble efforts. James tells us that if we obey the royal law of love we do well; and, of course, we know it is impossible to obey that law without the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit of Yahweh – the resurrection power. The angels, which were made of hammered gold, represent purity (our holy [pure] God guarding his unpolluted [law] character). Their wings touch over the mercy seat and are a message of the uncontaminated goodness of the One who took our sins upon himself so we could have his sinless standing before Yahweh, and come to him with an attitude of fearlessness and courage. Our Mashiach is the reality behind the picture the Ark painted. An ark is a place of safety.

The flashes of lightning, thunder, shouting, earthquake, and hailstorm are all pictures of our God’s power and authority.

And now unto him who is able to keep you from falling and present you faultless before the presence of Yahweh with joy unspeakable and full of glory, be dominion and power both now and forever; Amen!
