The rule of the firstborn.
Pretty simple and straightforward.
Basically, the first male child born to a man is to be the heir of the father’s property.
No, not really.
You see, in God’s eyes, Ishmael was not the ‘child of promise’. He was not the miracle that God promised.
He was the product of Abraham and Sarah’s attempt to ‘help God’.
I don’t know ’bout you, but the God that I serve needs no help.
God told Abraham, quite clearly, that Isaac was the child of promise
